At Randolph Technical Center, teaching is more than instruction. It’s a work of ❤️
This Teacher Appreciation Week, we celebrate the incredible #RTC educators who meet students where they are, every single day. Whether it’s helping them master a hands-on skill, build confidence, or navigate life’s challenges, our teachers give it their all.
THANK YOU for guiding with empathy, encouraging growth, and showing up with unwavering dedication. Our students don’t just leave with skills; they leave stronger, more prepared, and more supported because of you. 💙

🎉 RTC Student Success Spotlight! 🎉
Today was Day 1 of NOCTI testing—and our students showed up and showed out! 💼🔧💻
📋 41 students tested
✅ 36 students (88%) scored at or above the Workforce Readiness benchmark
🏅 12 students (29%) earned scores qualifying them for the WV Governor’s Workforce Credential!
These numbers reflect not just knowledge, but readiness for real-world success.
🔍 What is NOCTI?
The National Occupational Competency Testing Institute exam assesses a student’s technical knowledge and hands-on skills in their chosen career pathway.
📈 Workforce Readiness Benchmark:
This score means a student is prepared to enter the workforce in their field with confidence and skill, recognized by employers nationwide.
🏅 Governor’s Workforce Credential:
A special honor in West Virginia for students who demonstrate outstanding performance in technical skills, attendance, and professionalism. It’s a mark of excellence that sets them apart for future job opportunities and college prospects.

Schools will administer the West Virginia General Summative Assessment (WVGSA) for Grades 3-8 this spring. The WVGSA is a test measuring academic progress for students and schools in West Virginia.
The WVGSA is an untimed test administered online. All public school students will participate in the WVGSA at the grade level in which they are enrolled, unless they meet the criteria for participation in the West Virginia Alternate Summative Assessment.
Students in Grades 3-8 will take the English language arts (ELA) reading, ELA writing, and
mathematics tests, with students in Grades 5 and 8 also taking the science test.
Student scores will be accessible to parents/guardians shortly after the completion of a content area test.
More information and specific dates and times will be posted at a later date.

What is Chronic Absence? Here's What Parents Need to Know!
Did you know that missing just 2 days a month—excused or unexcused—can add up to a chronic absence? That’s 18 or more days over the course of a school year.
Chronic absence affects students of all ages and can have a serious impact on:
✔️ Academic performance
✔️ Reading and math achievement
✔️ Graduation rates
✔️ Long-term success in school and beyond
Even in the early grades, every day matters. Students can fall behind quickly and may struggle to catch up—especially in subjects that build day by day.
How can parents help?
✅ Make school attendance a priority
✅ Schedule appointments outside of school hours when possible
✅ Keep open communication with the school if your child is struggling
✅ Reach out—we’re here to support you!
Let’s work together to ensure students are present, engaged, and ready to succeed. When it comes to learning…
✅ Each School Day Counts.
✅ Every One.
Today, Randolph County Schools has 16.87% of its students identified as Chronically Absent. Forty-One Percent (41%) of RCS students have no attendance issues. Let's work to make that number grow by June 4th!
